Today, with satellite phones and email and teleconferencingl, thanks are face-to-face or embedded in mails, making official "attaboy" letters rare. Here are some examples of some of the thanks I've received over the years. Check my Linked-in page for endorsements from people who have worked with me

Howard Shatto - Inventor of DP
"Lew Weingarth .... was particularly adept at anticipating problem areas and planning ahead. He is very competent and has a thorough knowledge .... particularly electrical and electronic aspects. His demeanor and skills at working with others is beyond compare"Charles N. McKinnon, PhD Consultant
Westech Gear Corporation
In a letter to Lew, DP Committee Chairman Howard Shatto described some of the reasons he was selected to receive the 2009 award, including his work on the JOIDES Resolution and GSF Explorer, as well as his key role in developing Transocean’s “DP Excellence” initiatives, and DP training and development efforts across the fleet.
As Transocean’s DP Superintendent since 2004, Lew has supported DP Excellence at the company through his support of the “DP Lessons Learned” program, development and implementation of the “DP Power Simulator Course” (in conjunction with Kongsberg Maritime), and contributions to the well-specific operating criteria (WSOC) process.
On one project, the client was mistrustful of a proposal we'd made to solve a serious technical problem, and wanted independent review from an internationally known Expert. The Expert chosen by the Client lived in Amsterdam, but was unable to travel to Mumbai (no visa). We all flew from Mumbai to meet at the company's London offices. The expert's role was to examine our proposed solution and advise the client. When he walked in the door at the London meeting, he told the client "Lew Weingarth is doing this? You don't need me, just listen to what Lew says". We had worked together over the years and as much as I knew his skills and ethics were above reproach, he felt the same about me. I felt honored to know him and to know that he felt that way, because I've ALWAYS strived to maintain the highest ethical standards. It causes me to say "I'll get back to you" or "I con't know but I'll find out" quite a bit, but in life, there simply is no option to ethical behavior.
